Before you try any of the below recipes, just remember … t’s all is about promoting good nutrition among our beloved pets in order to improve their health and standard of living. Here are a few things to keep in mind!
- Don’t season your pet’s food – it could cause upset stomachs
- Don’t change your pets diet overnight. Make the change from one type of food to another gradually, so they can get used it
- If your pets have any sort of health condition, consult a vet before feeding them anything new
- Avoid feeding pets garlic, onion, mouldy or spoiled foods, salt, alcohol, coffee, tea, yeast and chocolate

NB** Do not freeze baked homemade treats.
DOG TREATS from CANNED DOG FOOD:
1. Open the can & shake the loaf of food out of the can.
2. Cut the loaf into 1/4″ thick slices, and then cut the slices into bite-sized pieces.
3. Bake the treats in a microwave oven on high for approximately 2½ to 3 mins OR bake in oven at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes or until crispy.
4. Store baked treats in the refrigerator and discard leftovers after 5-7 days.
For a refreshing treat for pets during the hot summer – roll the canned food into little balls and place in the freezer to serve later as a frozen treat.
CAT TREATS from CANNED CAT FOOD:
1. Open the can and shake the loaf of cat food out of the can.
2. Cut the loaf into 1/4″ thick slices, and then cut the slices into bite-sized pieces.
3. Bake the cat treats in a microwave oven on high for approximately 2½ to 3 minutes. For a conventional oven, follow the instructions above and place the bite-sized pieces on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes or until crispy.
GRAVY from CANNED CAT FOOD
1. Crumble 1/2 can of cat food into a measuring cup.
2. Add 1/3 cup water to the measuring cup.
3. Stir ingredients until the mixture is combined to the consistency of gravy.
DRY DOG FOOD RECIPE
A homemade healthy treat recipe for your pooch using Dry Dog Food
1. In a blender, add 2 cups of dry food and grind into a powder.
2. Pour powder into a mixing bowl and gradually add about 1 to 1¼ cups of water, stirring until it forms a dough consistency.
3. Shape into individual “treats” or “cookies” and flatten the dough using the back of a spoon (the cookies will not flatten like standard “people cookies” do.) Cookie cutters make treats fun to make and serve
4. Place treats on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake in the oven at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes or until crispy.
5. Store baked treats in the refrigerator and discard leftovers after 5-7 days.

PEANUT BUTTER & PUMPKIN DOG TREATS
Ingredients
• 2.5 cups whole wheat flour
• 2 eggs
• Half cup boiled pumpkin
• 2 tablespoons peanut butter (unsalted, sugar-free and xylitol free)
• Half teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions
• Preheat over to 175ºC or 350ºF
• Whisk all ingredients together
• Add enough water to make a firm dough
• Roll out dough and cut into cookie shapes
• Bake in preheated oven until hard for about 40 minutes
• Cool and serve
• Store in the fridge for up to 5 days
DOGGIE COOKIES
Ingredients
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• Half cup peanut butter (unsalted, sugar-free and xylitol free)
• 1 cup whole wheat flour
• 1 cup white flour
• 1 cup water
Directions
• Preheat over to 175ºC or 350ºF
• Whisk all ingredients together
• Roll out dough and cut into cookie shapes
• Bake in preheated oven until hard for about 20 minutes
• Cool and serve
• Store in the fridge for up to 5 days
PEANUT BUTTER AND BANANA ICE CREAM
Keep your pooch cool with this great recipe for peanut butter and banana ice cream: This ice cream is s great stuffed into a Kong, on a lick-mat, or 3-4 scoops in a bowl.
Ingredients
• 1 peeled banana – the riper, the better
• 1 heaped tablespoon of peanut butter (xylitol-free)
• 2 heaped tablespoons of dairy-free yoghurt or water, if you prefer
Directions
1. Peel the banana (no peels please – they’re not easy to digest) and mash it together with the peanut butter and yoghurt.
2. When the ingredients are combined to a smooth consistency, spoon the mix into a freezable container.
3. Pop it in the freezer until it’s set. 4. Scoop and serve and enjoy!
BLUEBERRY AND YOGHURT ICE CREAM
Here’s another cool and healthy treat for your pooch to beat the heat this summer!
Ingredients
• 1x ¾ cup blueberries 2x ¾ cup greek yogurt low fat preferably
• 3x ½ banana, ripe
Directions
• Gather all ingredients.
• Add all ingredients into a blender.
• Blend until fully incorporated, about 90 seconds.
• Pour into molds. Freeze until solid, about 5 hours.
• Remove treats from the mold and serve!
